Maximilian München MM
The company slogan reads "POINTtec - The European alternative." This statement clearly highlights the fact that all watches are exclusively made from European parts. The country of origin marked in every watch is"Made in Germany”. In the area of development and production POINTtec closely co-operates, with amongst others, the watch fabricator Gardé, Ruhla / Thuringia. This watch manufacturer originates from the famous watch-makers "Brothers Tiehl" founded in the 18th Century.
Maximilian München MM - The most precise measurement of time.
The most successful result of the co-operation between POINTtec and RHULA was the development of a special electronic movement, and the production of high-tech radio controlled wristwatches under the brand name MAXIMILIAN MÜNCHEN. The absolutely accurate time setting is defined by receiving signals from the world’s most precise atomic watch in Braunschweig, Germany.
As a milestone, in 1999 POINTtec inaugurated an outstanding innovation in this product category: The radio controlled watch with both analogical and 2 big digital information displays. Because of its extraordinary technology this watch has been chosen by the German Museum in Munich for permanent exhibition.
Today, POINTtec is recognized worldwide as one of the leading manufacturers of radio controlled wristwatches, and is at the forefront of this advanced technology.
JUNKERS and ZEPPELIN - "Legends alive" with functional precision.
During the '90s POINTtec's key focus was set on design and production of private label
promotional watches
for many well known corporations such as BOSCH, SIEMENS and VW.
With the development of the JUNKERS (pronounce YOON-KERS) brand watches, there was a realization that this brand and LOGO presented ideal opportunities to create high quality watches that combined historic aircraft design elements with the latest state-of-the-art mechanical and electronic movements.
In 1997 POINTtec signed a long-term license contract with the Junkers’ family, who’s forefather was
HUGO JUNKERS,
the German constructor engineer of famous passenger airplanes such as "Aunt JU 52”.
After POINTtec’s outstanding success with the first JUNKERS watch collections, it was a natural progression that POINTtec get in contact with another famous name of the bygone days of early aviation:
GRAF ZEPPELIN
- the aero engineer and his unique ZEPPELIN airships. In mid-2000 the long-term license for the watch brand was signed, with today’s name holder being Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH, Friedrichshafen.
Since the beginning of the year 2002, all those who are attracted by aviation tradition and history combined with high quality precision will enthusiastically receive the JUNKERS and ZEPPELIN watch collections. Here they can discover extraordinary watch movements - mechanical hand-winding or automatic, as well as high-tech functional wristwatches. Special watch dials refer to specific movement functions. Watchcases in fine steel or light titanium are perfectly combined with hand-made leather straps, and solid bracelets in stainless steel or hypoallergenic titanium.
POINT tec - successful into the future
POINT tec is also well prepared for future challenges. Many exciting and diverse watch innovations are continuously being developed and executed. A prime example to note is the double-decker wristwatch creation by the ZEPPELIN brand, which combines a digital altimeter/barometer/chronograph (lower watch case), with a fine ETA Swiss Pesseux hand-winding movement (upper watch case). This unique piece was created in co-operation with the Technical University (TU) in Munich, and indicates exact altitude data up to 10.000 meters with an easy switch to 30.000 feet. The Swiss watch module inside its two-part collapsible folding case has already been tested on a climb of Mount Everest.
Due to the 20th Company Anniversary in 2007POINTtec created two new unique time-pieces: "About 100 gram of weight equipped with ETA / Valjoux-Calibre 7753 JUNKERS IronAnnie JU52 and ZEPPLIN LZ127 provide convincing performance." (German UHREN MAGAZIN 1/2 2007 Test and Techniques). Both models reference 6620-1 and 7612-4 are top chronographs and first released in 2007 in form of chronometers certified by Glashütte Observatory. The standard - not certified - chronograph versions and other certified chronometers will follow during the years 2007 / 2008 in various watch movement and collection segments.
In the high-tech watch sector, multiple advancements in wristwatch applications are being researched and brought into realization, such as POINT Access, a watch for personal identification and paperless money transfer (Ident- / Pay-Watch).
Due to the outstanding functional quality and advanced technical design of its wristwatches, POINTtec has been appointed supplier of the Federal Troops of the National German Military Services (Bundeswehr). POINTtec wristwatches are also specially customized for military units, helicopter teams, and others such as KFOR, ISAF and SFOR troops.
A very special attribute of the JUNKERS and ZEPPELIN collections is the outstanding price to value ratio. Besides POINT tec Electronic GmbH, no other German manufacturer offers consumers worldwide such design and technical quality wristwatches at such favourable "Made in Germany" price points.
Germany is still the most important key market for POINT tec. A continuously growing number of distribution partners are constantly generating increased sales of the 3 watch brands. With the success story of JUNKERS and ZEPPELIN watches in Germany, since 2003 the international distribution is being build up and steadily expanded worldwide, with the co-operation of selected jewellers, specialist watch dealers, department stores and the DUTY FREE sector. "Developing POINT tec markets" are gaining importance and an ongoing process of controlling and expanding distribution is moving ahead throughout Europe and worldwide.
